Your First Visit Starts With a Conversation

If you like to know what's coming before an appointment, here's a quick guide to your first visit with us.

We'll start by getting to know you, your dental history, and what brings you in. Whether you need a routine checkup, have a specific concern, or want to change something about your smile, we want to understand what matters to you.

Have questions? Ask away. If you've had a rough dental visit in the past or feel nervous about treatment, tell us. We're always happy to talk through your concerns.

What to Bring to Your First Appointment

A little planning can help your first visit go smoothly. Here’s what to have ready.

Completed Patient FormsFill out our patient forms (PDF) before your visit, or arrive 15 minutes early to complete them in our office.
Insurance Card and IDBring your dental insurance card and a photo ID. Our team can help you check your benefits, and we file claims electronically for you.
List of MedicationsBring a list of your current medications, including vitamins and supplements. Your dentist needs to know about your medications and health conditions to plan safe, appropriate care.
Previous Dental Records or X-RaysIf you've had dental X-rays taken at another office recently, ask whether those images can be sent to us before your appointment.

What Happens During Your First Visit?

Every first visit depends on your needs and the reason you're coming in, but here's what you can usually expect.

Step 1

We'll Talk About Your Dental Health

We'll go over your dental history, any concerns you have, and what you'd like to work on. It's a good time to mention tooth pain, sensitivity, or anything else you've noticed.

Step 2

We'll Review Your Medical History

Health conditions and medications can affect your dental care, so we'll look over your health information before recommending any treatment.

Step 3

You'll Receive a Dental Exam

Dr. Tony will check your teeth, gums, and the rest of your mouth. Digital X-rays may be taken to see areas that aren't visible during the exam, and an oral cancer screening may be part of your visit.

Step 4

We'll Explain Our Findings

If we find anything that needs attention, we'll explain what we see and answer your questions. Your digital X-rays show up on a screen, so we can walk through them with you.

Step 5

We'll Discuss Your Treatment Options

If treatment is recommended, we'll go over your options and the expected costs before moving ahead. If you need more than one procedure, we'll help you decide what comes first and talk about scheduling. Our goal is to help you make informed choices about your dental care.

Nervous About Visiting the Dentist?

If it's been a while since your last dental visit, you're not alone. Dental anxiety, a busy schedule, or a bad experience in the past can make it hard to pick up the phone.

There's no need to feel embarrassed or worry about being judged. Tell us what's on your mind, and we'll do our best to help you feel at ease.

Many of our patients say they were nervous at first. We'll explain each step before we begin, check in with you along the way, and take breaks whenever you need them.
